The International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Sub-committee of the Carriage of Cargoes and Containers ( CCC 4) has agreed to incorporate changes to the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code for the carriage of bauxite cargoes in bulk for its next Amendment 05-19. Pending formal adoption by the IMO's Maritime Safety Commitee in 2019, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has taken a step further by advocating that the new testing procedure and bauxite schedules be applied to all bauxite cargoes shipped from Australia.
Certificate of Approval No. 5456 incorporating the IMO revised bauxite circular (CCC.1/circ.2/Rev.1) has been issued by the AMSA. It is to be noted that this approval will remain valid until 1 January 2020 unless withdrawn or altered for any reason prior to this date.
